So I’m sitting at work the other day, Jason Mraz’s Curbside Prophet comes on. You know the song:
I’m just a curbside prophet
with my hand in my pocket
and I’m waiting for my rocket to come
So I’m singing along, right as the last verse starts I realize I don’t know it that well, let me explain:
See I’m a down home brother
A bad Mother…. Crap..
It should be:
See I’m a down home brother
With my guitar here
I’m ready to play
A slight change in lyrics but honestly I think both work fine.
Back to work.
I’m running on a tea buzz from McAllister’s right now so I’ve stopped blinking for a bit. There is a lot on my mind tonight however and I really wanted to get some stuff down on proverbial paper.
Lyrics of the night:
And any time you feel the pain, hey, Jude, refrain
Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders
Well don’t you know that its a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
I listened to 3 different versions of that song tonight on the way home. I have no idea why but it felt great to scream out those lyrics at the top of my lungs, however unharmonic it may have been. It’s not about the music though, it’s about the meaning behind that music. So no matter your tonality, scream out those lyrics from time to time, you’ll be happy that you did.
At the end of the Jude-fest, this song came on:
It starts at my toes and I crinkle my nose
Where ever it goes I always know
That you make me smile
please stay for a while now
Just take your time where ever you go
It just has that Jack Johnson vibe to it with a great female voice. I have no idea why but I really love the rhythm and feeling of this song. It’s not what the song is about, it’s how the song makes me feel. Bubbly.
I just feel inspired tonight, but I have nothing to do. Is that even possible? Can you be inspired and not have anythign to do? Doesn’t the definition of inspiration have something to do with doing something? I’m full of vim, vigor, and vitality, but alas, I’m sitting here blogging song lyrics and watching The Office again. The good news is, I’m on disc 3 of 4 and I can free up some spots on my Netflix. Watching online is highly underrated.
I guess this is really one of those stream of consciousness posts again. I hope you enjoy them, I think I probably enjoy posting them more than about anything else.
OK so it’s time for my twice yearly grip session about textbooks. I just got back from the bookstore where I spent over $500 on 4 books and a CD. Yes that’s $500…American Dollars. I just don’t get it, I sold my books back last semester and of course they only bought one and it was “worth” $30… WTF! I had to buy one book for each class next semester, ranging from $150 for my capstone marketing class, to 95 for my IB2 class… Then the bastards made me buy a CD of a “strategy game” for IB2 that was $45… For what?! I know that we’re not going to use that CD more than once or twice and we’re probably not going to learn a single flippin thing once we do finally use it. I try to buy used books now, of course I went a week later than half of the university apparently cause there were no used books for half the classes. Honestly, these classes are upper level business classes, 20 students or less each semester, they should have an adequate amount of used books to go around! You know why they don’t, new editions! Yeah that’s right, the 7th edition had a semicolon where a comma should have been, you need to buy the 8th edition now and we only have new books in stock. ARRGGGHHH!
In other news today, I have the Laverne and Shirley theme song stuck in my head, how annoying is that?
And we’ll do it our way, yes our way.
Make all our dreams come true.

Do you ever get in one of those moods where song lyrics really really speak to you? I’m in one of those moods right now. Here’s what I’ve got on my list lately, check them out for yourself, I don’t feel like posting them all here and filling this thing up.
- Tool – The Patient
- Evanescence – My Immortal
- George Strait – Check Yes or No
- Linkin Park – Numb
It’s nothing really exciting I guess, but I’ve heard these songs today and I must say that they all reached me in some way.
Anyways though, I’ve got some studying left to do and I need to get to bed, long day tomorrow, going to see Jeremy Hotz in Broad Ripple…
