Posting from the iPad

So I’m sitting here on the couch typing on the iPad. Erin and I got one for christmas this year and so far i think it’s a pretty cool thing. I’ve got most of my apps setup to run on here and I think for the most part I could move from using my iPhone all the time for things to just using this at the couch all the time. I’m actually typing this at my normal typing speed on the screen keyboard and honestly it’s not so bad, I could probably do a little better but to this point I’ve only had about five spelling issues.
I can handle it.
We’ve also got it set up to work with our xfinity stuff. That’s pretty cool when you have a 10-inch remote control for your TV and you can control both TVs from the same device. Of course we use it for our AppleTVs too. I’m just waiting on a new Words with Friends app so that I don’t have to do everything in 2X mode. It’s a little grainy.
Later tonight I plan to play with YouTube a bit and see how that goes.
The magazines are pretty cool on here, unfortunately I haven’t found anything in iBooks yet that I’m willing to pay for yet.
And basically the Twitter app rocks! I love the mult-pane layout.
The only thing that i haven’t tried yet is the native mail app, since we’re sharing this thing I guess I’m just going to do gmail on the web, and actually that’s not so bad either.
Better get back to something non-productive, it’s vacation week!

I’m tired

The last few weeks were supposed to be my vacation.  I wasn’t planning on going any where or even doing that much really. I wanted to get some organizing and cleaning type stuff done. I got one day of that done, some filing done of bills and that type of stuff. Then I spent the next few days at the hospital, missed the holidays for the most part and spent the next few days trying to get back in a rhythm. I don’t think I’ve found it yet really.

Tomorrow I have to be at work early, it’s the first Monday of the month and the first official day back of the new year, meeting time. I think I could go to bed now and still be tired in the morning.

I feel like I’m just spinning my wheels lately. I get up, and before I know it, it’s time to get ready and leave again. They say there’s a snow storm coming in the next few days, I think I need a snow day to relax.

Today I got up and headed over to Erin’s to put together a bookcase. I got over halfway done, there were two busted pieces. After 15 minutes on the phone Target decided to take it back and give me a new one. Now that’s sitting in the back of my truck, tomorrow I should have time to work on it again.

I’m tired of writing.

I don’t do this enough

Last time I really posted I was in the midst of my 11 day vacation, I planned to post everyday, my vacation ended 5 days ago.

In those days I just about got everything I wanted to get done. I even stayed up for 32 hours straight at one point. I couldn’t sleep one night so I got up, showered and headed out to get painting supplies at 430am. Meijer is dead then and the Lowes people aren’t very happy to mix paint at 630 in the morning. But I was home by 9am and began painting. I painted one wall in each room a darker color, in this case green, blue, and gray, then I painted the rest of the place a white-ish-gray-blue. I found out last night that in the right light, my walls look blue, blue and purple with light blue on the other walls. Never make paint selections at 630 in the morning. Sunlight makes all the difference.

After staying up for 32 hours I finally went to bed, got a good night’s sleep and was back on track. Most of my vacation I did exactly what I wanted to do, nothing. It was great to just sit around and relax mostly.

Since being back at work I’ve wished for a longer vacation. I went in to hell it seemed, a large machine was broken and our printer was on the fritz. I will cover this in detail on another post, but lets just say that Komo Machine/Siemens and HP are on my list this year.

I’ve also found that since I’ve been back, I’m more important at work than I thought. Much more managerial that I thought I was basically. I knew I had a role, but that role is growing at an accelerating rate. Always good to see. Things changing in this case are not so bad.

It’s the new year and life is starting again. The lull of the holiday craziness is over and changes are being made, both by us and for us. Some of us are continuing from where we were and others are starting anew.

I’ve rambled enough for tonight. As I said, when I’m done with HP and Komo/Siemens I’ll write about them. Their staff has much left to do to impress me.

Vacation Day 1

I took off the rest of the year from work (except for 15 minutes via the web on Friday/Saturday at the end of the month). 11 days of no work basically. I have some plans, painting, relaxing, cleaning, etc. I’m going to try to blog about each day at it goes.

I planned to wake up early today, head to the bank and then head out to finish my Christmas shopping before it got too crazy out. Didn’t happen. I woke up at 1045, I finally got out of the house at 1130, the bank closes at 12 and it’s 35 minutes away. I made it to the bank. Then I headed off to the mall. Everyone else got up before 1045 or didn’t have to go to the bank because they were already there.

I think I literally walked a quarter mile to get in the place. I headed to my first stop, sold out. Second stop, long lines but they had what I needed. Third stop, longer lines but they have staggard lines (half close to the door, half a little farther back) I ran to one of the closer to the door ones, around about 6 other people, and got out quickly. Did I break a rule or some kind of social more by doing that? I don’t care particularly, it’s Christmas time and it’s every man for themself.

I’m back home now and totally just relaxing, while doing some laundry, I need to clean the house but I’m just not in the mood today. Maybe late tonight or tomorrow, or next week.

Relaxation.

After outting update: Erin and I went out with Kyle tonight. We ran into my grandparents and they even bought us dinner.  Nice. We headed out to Best Buy and the mall. It’s always an adventure, though we didn’t go to Penney’s for towels (inside joke). All in all it was a pretty good time. It’s raining out now but the night was great with great friends and always interesting conversation.

Christmas Vacation is on Tivo now, my favorite holiday movie after A Christmas Story. What can I say, I’m a little demented. I’ve enver seen White Christmas or It’s a Wonderful Life, so I go with what I know. Heading to bed soon so I can do nothing tomorrow but football and chillin’.

1000 Posts!

I’ve done it, 1000 posts. I’ve posted my thoughts here more times that I can think. I’ve preached, praised and propped. I just wanted to say thanks for reading this over all the years, talking with people about what I’ve written or seeing your comments make it all worthwhile.

Sadly I must take a vacation now though, Spring break starts Monday, I’m ending the posting streak, 184 days in a row. That’s over half the year that I’ve posted every day. The last post probably for the week will be a message from my cell on Monday that I’ve arrived safely in MIA. Internet access might be hard to come by on the ship or in Mexico…
I hope you enjoy the week off from reading, I promise to have a huge post when i get back complete with great stories and pictures. Catch you all next week!
